As a part-time resident, it's easy to feel secure with so many people around day-in and day-out. But with the recent break-ins it becomes necessary to eliminate the obvious.

Past newsletter articles have asked neighbors to keep our outdoor lights shining - a possible sign no one is home to take care of them. However, even more obvious are things like packages left on door step and trash cans in front of the garage. Why not make arrangements with a neighbor to store those items until you're back in residence (and then buy them a coffee or lunch someday in return.) A simple step like this will give the appearance we're here everyday just like all the others.
