History of Deck Expansions

Deck expansions at Harbour Towne are new.  With a few exceptions they began in late 2010.

What if I want to expand my deck?

The process has not yet been formalized; in general the process is...

• submit a request in any format to any board member or building committee member
• the building committee will review and forward to board with recommendations
• the board will advise the owner of its decision
• the owner will engage an architect to prepare construction drawings and to obtain building permit from city
• the owner will engage builder
• the builder will construct
• owner and their friends will enjoy!!

How many options are there?

There are limited choices, and some of them have not yet been defined.  We are not ready to publish the options until we see what develops this summer - hopefully by fall.

How much does it cost?

Currently costs are around $1,300 for the basic model and nearly twice that for the expanded version.

What Architect can I use?

Any registered architect can do it; Dick Borgeson (231-747-7574 / This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) however, has most of the required data in his computer.  He is quick, effective and fun to work with, produces a top quality product, and is very low cost.

What Builder can I use?

The only approved builder is Dave Mills (231-722-2100). Mills has 30 years commercial and residential building experience and has constructed 25+ decks at Harbour Towne, all of which were constructed in one day with no known complaints.
