Home Services Maintenance Grounding our CSST (flexible gas pipe) - 2011 June
Grounding our CSST (flexible gas pipe) - 2011 June Print E-mail

What is it?

As discussed in our April Newsletter, many of the individual units at Harbour Towne are supplied with CSST (flexible gas pipe).  Changes in federal and local electric codes now require that all units supplied with CSST gas pipe must be provided with additional grounding.

The interior of each unit "must be inspected by our electrician, Jim Newsted, to determine if additional grounding is necessary".  If additional grounding is required, a grounding wire and clamp must be attached between your gas manifold delivery line and your electrical panel, or your water supply line to your unit. In some instances this process will take less than 10 minutes to complete while other units will require much more time.

Based on the completion of several, randomly selected units, we estimate that our electrician will be able to inspect and/or update 32 units per day. It will take our electrician 6 days to inspect and repair all units.

Does it apply to me?

All units have to be inspected; only some will actually require the grounding update.

When is it?

  • Six consecutive days, June 21-28th; 8-noon in the morning and 1-5 in the afternoon each day. In most cases, approximately 10 minutes per unit; some could take significantly more time.
  • We have scheduled this work flow in a consecutive manner starting at the end of West Harbour Town Circle and proceeding to the end of East Harbour Towne Circle. Then we will do the side roads, Channel View Place, then Marina View Point, etc. until all streets are completed.
  • Please review the schedule sent to you by mail. If you don’t receive the  list by the end of this week, please contact Sun Agency (231.759.7222) and ask about the date and time your unit will be inspected.

What do I have to do?

Please make your unit available for inspection and any required grounding updates on the date and 4 hour timeline scheduled for your unit.  If you cannot be present personally, be sure you authorize someone (friend or neighbor) who can make your unit available in your absence.

Thanks for your Cooperation

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding as we ensure all of our units are maintained to the current safety codes!
